In the Catholic Church,
marriage is more than a
natural institution; it was
elevated by Christ Himself,
in His participation in the
wedding at Cana (John
2:1-11), to be one of the

In order to be married at Maternity BVM
Catholic Church, either the bride or groom
must be registered with the parish. To get
the process started, the engaged couple
must meet with the priest at least four
months prior to when they wish to be
married. At that first meeting the priest will
set the wedding date with the couple.
Before the wedding, the couple will have to
participate in the Marriage Preparation
programs sponsored by the Archdiocese
of Chicago, and will have completed three
meetings with the priest. To arrange to
meet with the priest, please call the Parish
Office at (773) 772-9401.
Only the priest can set the wedding date

Generally, weddings are scheduled on
Saturdays at either 1:00pm or 3:00pm (or
another day of the week depending on the
availability of the church building).

Validation may be performed by either a
